It is vital to take a backup of the configuration files before upgrading the RX Sensor Service.

Stop the Service

Navigate to Windows Services.

Find RX Sensor Service and click Stop the service.

Configuration Backup

Navigate to the RX Sensor Service/data folder, by default this can be found here

C:\Program Files (x86)\QED\RX Sensor Service/data

Make a copy of the two configuration files, serviceConfig.json and hueBridges.json.

Uninstall

The next step is to uninstall the current service.

This can be done via the Control PanelPrograms and Features.

Upgrade

Now install the latest version.

Running the Installation

Extract the setup kit from the ZIP file and run the application found in the extracted folder.

Click Yes when asked to “… allow this app…”

Choose the installation location, we advise keeping this as default as this folder will be accessed later.
Click Next

On the next screen click Install.
You will see a couple of terminal windows open, allow these to run to completion, they will automatically close.

Once the installation has completed click, Finish.

Once the installation process has completed, replace the serviceConfig.json and hueBridges.json files found in the new installation with the versions saved from the beginning of this guide.

Restart the Service

Once the configuration files have been updated the service will need to be restarted.
Navigate to Windows Services.

Find RX Sensor Service.

If the service is not running click Start the service.
If the service is already running click Restart the service.
