v1.3 - Aura Security, MAC Address Validation

A new feature available in v1.3 is MAC address security.

When enabled this feature will restrict any Room Screen device from accessing profile data unless the devices MAC address has been registered.

Current only Aura devices have the ability to be registered against a ResourceXpress server.

Enabling Screen Security

The first step to utilizing this feature is to enable Screen Security.
This is a new tab found on the System Settings page.

From here you can enable Room Screen.

QSign, QKiosk and Maps will be coming soon

Once enabled all devices currently connected to a Profile will display an error message.

Assigning MAC Address

Unregistered Devices List

If you already have Aura’s connected to ResourceXpress profiles there is a quick way to automatically add all the MAC addresses to the correct profiles, to do this you will need to go to the Unregistered Devices page which can be found under Reporting Module in the menu.

From this view, you will see a list of all the devices that have tried to connect to a ResourceXpress profile, by default this will include any Aura’s or Qubi’s, this list can be reduced using the filter options.

From here you can choose Auto Link to assign each MAC address to the associated profile, which can be seen under the column Resource Name. Alternatively, you can individually auto assign MAC address and profiles using the LINK icon in this column.

Once the MAC Address has been assigned to a profile it will disappear from this list.

If the suggested profile is incorrect you are able to choose which profile the MAC address will be assigned by selecting the icon in the Register column.

This option will provide a list of all profiles which can be filtered to show profiles which currently have a registered MAC address or profiles which do not currently have a registered MAC address.

Assign & Manage MAC Addresses by Profile

There is an option to manually assign each MAC address to the correct profile from the Profile Edit page.

From the Profile Edit page, there is a new tab Room Screen Security, this will allow you to enter the MAC address for this profile.

From this view, you can also remove MAC addresses by clicking the DELETE icon alongside each MAC address.
